2025 Recap
The focus, here, is going to be on personal and professional accomplishments. Much of this, as many know, is interwoven with my literary stewardship, specifically with regards to ONE ART and Cleaver Magazine.
While this might look like a lot, it’s notable that I published much less of my own work in 2025. I have also submitted much less. There’s a longer conversation to be had about these matters. To be clear, I’m not complaining. It’s mostly a matter of how I allocate my time, attention, energy, bandwidth.
Please feel free to use this structure as a tool to keep track of your own goings on over the course of 2026 (and moving forward). I have a Writer’s CV (but that’s more selective). Keeping records is useful as a reminder of what you’ve been doing, seeing progress/direction/changes over time, and also so it’s easier to gather materials when someone asks. I’m including things I didn’t do, in part to show my work and reveal that I’m not doing everything… because no one can do everything. Wise people have said that everything you say “yes” to means you’re saying “no” to a whole lot of other possibilities. It’s easy to forget this.

Much gratitude to Michael Simms for curating my poem ‘The Rocky Mountain Locust Surge‘ in Vox Populi. This poem first appeared in Gargoyle Magazine #65 (Thanks, Richard!), and Marjorie Maddox previously selected it for The Poetry Moment.

So, this is something that feels really cool.
Today, a poem of mine is featured on public radio thanks to Marjorie Maddox.
First time having the experience of a poem of mine being read and shared in this manner.
Shout-out to Richard Peabody (Editor of Gargoyle Magazine) where this poem first appeared, in 2016.
