Reflections on Pitchfork’s Best Songs & Albums of 2022
*I don’t keep up.
**I’m 30+ so you can’t really trust my opinions anyways, can you?
1. Who are these musicians/bands?
2. We ran out of good band names a long time ago.
There are exceptions to every rule.
3. Yes, Pusha T had a good album if you’re into his style.
4. MUNA is so good. Consider if you’re on a high horse.
5. I just don’t see Burial doing better than Untrue.
6. Finally getting into Sharon Van Etten
7. Perfume Genius is doing some interesting stuff. Worth checking out.
8. Beyoncé’s album is a wild journey.
9. FKA Twigs ‘Meta Angel’ is a wild track. Listen.
10. Drake has been disappointing since Scorpion, right?
11. TS wins all the things. Hands down.
12. Carly Jae Jepsen brings joy.
13. Angel Olsen will eventually do something more lasting.
14. Sudan Archives has moves.
15. Big Thief is definitely better than Adrianne Lenker’s solo work.
16. Charli XCX runs the hyper pop trends.
17. Soccer Mommy is good but I tend to play out the tracks fast.
18. Feel like I should like Weyes Blood more than I do as of now.
19. I like Caroline Polachek and that feels uncool. I believe I like her the appropriate amount.
20. Way too many of these artists/bands are wildly inconsistent.
21. Alex G feels overrated. He’s not going to fill the Elliott Smith void.
22. Destroyer reminds me of several real-life people who work in pharmacies or bartend.
23. The Weeknd’s My Dear Melancholy beats Bon Iver and Tom Waits for those hard times.
24. Mitski is kinda scary kinda often.
25. Florist is just so so.
26. I’ve tried my best to learn absolutely nothing about Bad Bunny.
