For a long time, workers weren’t making any extra money working a 5th day of work.
Employers want employees in the office, in view, for archaic notions about productivity. This is part of surveillance capitalism. This has followed workers home in insidious ways and resulted in a reduction in trust and the caliber of knowledge work.
The four-day work week isn’t for everyone.
I do some form of work every day. It’s part of my routine. I have made this choice. What I do matters to me. Ok, some of what I do. Most people don’t have the privilege to say that about their work.
Take back your time. Find ways to buy your time back. What is your time really worth?
I think this is so important as well. It keeps you balanced. Some days you feel like you need a little more time away from thinking about work's to dos. And other days the to dos don't feel like to dos at all but something you need to make life work for you that day. I know that sounds weird.
