How “Save the Cat” can operate:
It’s an emotionally manipulative storytelling technique designed for a decidedly unreliable character. The character engages in some small positive act to ingratiate themselves to their audience. It makes the character likeable, sympathetic, morally good, which is beneficial when they engage in bad behavior later as they’ve already established themselves as a kind of savior.

It was likely we would have a recession during Trump's 2nd term.
Many have suggested we would have had one sooner except innovation, particularly AI hype, have pushed it off.
Trump may well have decided to go ahead with tariffs (and encouraging DOGE chaos, etc.) hastening a recession because it's early term so he can more easily blame Biden and say he inherited a bad economy.
Then, Trump can “Save the Cat” by using similar maneuvers to his first term to artificially inflate the market and, at least temporarily, give the appearance he has “fixed” the problem.
Wait for it …

Sadly we will all fall for his scheme.I hope I don't have to pay Tariff for writing this from Toronto.
