Apparently, I “listen” like people who live in Berkeley…? I’ve never been to the West Coast so someone needs to tell me what this means about me. Apparently, folks in Berkeley are also big fans of Caroline Polachek, Japanese Breakfast, and The 1975. Go figure.

I listened to 1,694 songs in 2023.

According to light research, this falls in the range of slightly above average. People listen to 1,040 to 1,300 songs in a year, on average. This is based on data that focuses on the average number of songs people listen to in a week as well as the average number of hours people spend listening to music in a week.

My top listen was “Oh Caroline” by The 1975 which is basically the unofficial song of “On My Mind”. In all seriousness, I have been making this joke since I started writing on Substack.

Apparently, I’m in the “Top 4%” and listened to 1,784 minutes of Taylor in 2023.

More than any other track, I listened to “Midnight Rain”. This is the track that convinced me Future is a NPC. Kidding…but seriously, Taylor can feature on her own songs so…
