Work has appeared in…
Here’s the concept. Encouraging poets/writers to highlight newer journals that they have published with as opposed to simply calling attention to the [subjective] “highest tier” journals in which their work has appeared over the course of their writing career.
For some, this is a move away from longstanding tradition. For others, this may be only a slight twist on what they have already been doing.
Keeping the above in mind…
What do you think about encouraging poets/writers to add a line in their Contributor’s Bio that says something along the lines of: “In 2022, their work has appeared in…”
(Alternative Contributor’s Bio opens could be: “In the last few years…” or “In recent years…”)
It’s double-edged. That “What have you done for us lately” concept is a source of frustration for many writers/artists.
But what is lately? When you see that such and such has been in say ‘The New Yorker’… maybe that was back in 1982. 40 years ago. Seems likely that what someone wrote 40 years ago does not heavily inform their current work.
