Remembering Yvonne Zipter
Poet Yvonne Zipter is no longer with us.
I last corresponded with Yvonne in October after she discovered her friend, J.R. Solonche, wrote a poem about her. By coincidence, I had just read a poem of Yvonne’s published in The Hudson Review— “Little Yew” (currently paywalled for subscribers). I wrote to the journal and asked that they make this poem publicly available. It’s a wonderful poem.

Last night, I took time to re-read Yvonne’s poems published in ONE ART and reflect.
*
I’m sure other editors/publishers have had this experience. You hear that one of your contributors has died and you return to past correspondence in search of meaning. The person is alive and well in old notes. Yvonne’s emails are often lighthearted, humble, and display a good sense of humor.
*
A little while back I created an In Memoriam page to remember lost ONE ART contributors.
*
I’m confident there will be other spaces and opportunities to share thoughts and memories of Yvonne. I’d like to offer space here.
I encourage you to share your memories and reflections in the comments.
