What Are the Rights We Most Need To Preserve in the United States?
I’ve been thinking about Resistance.
How does that work, historically speaking?

Time we live in… I asked ChatGPT to weigh in.
Here’s what the chatbot says should be our priorities **in order**
1. Freedom of Speech & Expression
2. Right to Vote & Fair Elections
3. Freedom of Religion
4. Right to Due Process & Equal Protection Under the Law
5. Freedom of the Press
6. Right to Privacy
7. Right to Peaceful Assembly & Protest
8. Right to Bear Arms
9. Protection Against Unreasonable Search & Seizure
10. Right to a Fair & Speedy Trial
11. Right to Petition the Government
12. Anti-Discrimination & Civil Rights
“Each of these rights plays a vital role in maintaining a free and just society. While some may argue about their ranking, all are essential to preserving democracy in the United States.”
Now it’s time for Humans to weigh in.
What’s wrong with this order?
What’s missing?
What do we need to prioritize?

Speaking Truth to Power

1. Be Well-Informed
2. Stay Calm and Composed
3. Choose the Right Time and Place
4. Use Clear, Concise Language
5. Build Alliances
6. Hold Power Accountable with Evidence
7. Leverage Public Awareness
8. Be Prepared for Backlash
9. Appeal to Shared Values
10. Know When to Walk Away

What are your thoughts?
What are you doing to prepare for what may be to come?

Note: I appreciate all who have already responded to my Facebook post on February 3rd inquiring—
“What are you doing, or preparing to do, in terms of Resistance?”
I followed up asking, “I'd also love to hear what folks are doing in terms of Community-building”

What are the questions we should be asking right now?
What are the actions we should be taking now, and the actions we may want to put on the backburner for the time being?
In the past, I was active in “Indivisible,”
but they Indivisibke of Appalachia Ohio has since disbanded. I’m sure Athens, Ohio will start something up again. I was a little burned out on volunteering at the time because there weren’t many members and our section was very active. I felt like I was volunteering every weekend,. Not to be a whiner, but it was a little difficult at the time.We registered voters, made visits to constituents, worked at food banks… If anything like that starts back up again, I will join with the hopes that there will be more members this time to cover all the bases. We weren’t allowed to say we were against Trump.
