We had a delightful day exploring The Barnes Foundation (in its new location in downtown Philadelphia… I grew up near the original location so it’s a whole thing… as a hyper-local conversation that is… also, why is this a Trump reference in 2010).
I love this! Thank you for sharing such beautiful pieces of art. I love Ekphrastic writing so I always love new pieces to draw inspiration from. Here is a link to a photo by Eudora Welty at the North Carolina Museum of Art called Child on the Porch 1939 (Jackson). I'm working on a poem for this one right now. https://ncartmuseum.org/object/child-on-the-porch-1939-jackson/
Mark & Louisa, my wife Sharon and I loved the Barnes Museum. We visited it about 8 years ago in the old location. Renoir is one of our favorite artists and they have the largest collection of his work. Truly spectacular. In recent months, I have been writing a lot of ekphrastic poems on paintings from a variety of artists. It combines two loves of mine; writing poetry and paintings. I am starting to feel like an impressionist poet, though the poems cover a much wider range of artists than impressionists. Does One Art have any interest in ekphrastic work?
Re The Ascetic, perhaps a superficial resemblance to Dick, but Dick seems more a lover than an ascetic.
ha, indeed

ONE ART does publish ekphrastic work. We've published quite a few ekphrastic poems by Kip Knott in particular.
