I love these journals. Recntly had work accepted by ELJ, and have had some favorite poems published in Sheila Na Gig. Friends and members of The Poetry Salon (www.thepoetrysalon.com) have had books published by Press 53 and Moon Tide. Edward Vidaurre has been a guest poet for The Poetry Saloncast, and so has one of their author's, Kai Coggin. My first book was a finalist for Glass Lyre a few years ago. All excellent publications! I continue to submit to them on a regular basis.
Hi Mark & Louisa - Thank you for this list and links to presses. I am curious - why did you not include Kelsay Books? I ask because I am about to send a manuscript to their division Alabaster Leaves Press but hesitate to do so now that I see your list. I'm hoping it was just an oversight. Namaste
I'm not a huge fan of Kelsay. I think they're a bit of a book mill. I've talked about this a decent amount, partly because I'm asked about Kelsay frequently.
Many people have told me they have had very positive experiences working with Karen and her team. Poets also say that they like the way the books are put together (visually). It's true, many Kelsay books look very nice, aesthetically speaking, and that matters.
A major complaint is that I don't think they are very discerning about what they take.
