What I don’t get are the many really nice people I know who voted for Trump. I don’t get it at all. For awhile, it made me question myself. I thought I was overly concerned and worried. Nope. I am completely over THAT feeling.

I worry that the seemingly nice people either quietly or subconsciously harbor some rather dark convictions.

Yes, me too. It’s all very confusing and horrifying.

I agree with what you have shared and I'm so glad you shared it. Looking back on how dictatorships and so forth were formed we think...how did a nation allow that to happen? But when you start to read the histories, they happened very nuanced, built strategically by dividing and injecting irrational fears of others and of the nation itself. Some people saw it coming. Many philosophers and writers of the time wrote about how this was something that needed to be recognized before it became beyond saving. Most people did not see it. It was not an outright seizure of power, but steps and then bigger steps as their power grew. I think this is a scary time and I hope people recognize this. Not only us, as citizens, but people in government such as the Supreme Court. Such as the Republicans who keep backing this behavior. Such as people who bend to his will who have money. Such as people who bend to his will for fear of losing their position or their name or freedom. I hope we as a nation are strong enough to stand as a nation of the USA and remember what we are founded on. So that we continue to have the privilege of those rights and fundamentals and so we do remain the United States of America.
