I agree. I love my local library. I also contribute my used books that I don't read at all anymore to the little community box borrowing library down the street from where I live.

This is a good point. We have to show need. And need for books on history, race, all that infory that some would rather be erased.

I know a .small town children's librarian who catches himself self-censoring. This started several years ago, due to the parents -flipping-out-about -books -theyve -never - seen movement. He felt (feels) personally vulnerable in a purple town also because he has two kids and a husband

Yes, excellent idea. BTW, UnlikelyStories asks authors to suggest social justice organizations who need donations. Suggestions are published at the end of the author's bio. I have been suggesting donations to local libraries for the past several years. Thank you.

I have long since noticed that books on the topic of race are no longer on the shelves. This has happened too many times to be a coincidence. But if one perseveres, requests the books from the librarians, they will tell me to come get them, hand them over like booze during Prohibition, as if they were wrapped in brown paper, with a secretive smile.

In California (& perhaps in your home state too), libraries have a program called 'zip book' where patrons can order any book in print for free. Thanks to the CA Library Association funding. I've ordered many poetry books!

Yes, no matter what you take out will show support for libraries which to date are resisting book bans. At least mine is.
